We want to introduce the performing arts, sculpture, painting, and the sciences to the Bush villages of Uganda! When I showed our contractor the plans for the theater, he was confused. He said he'd never seen such a thing. Drama, ballet and theater are not well known in this part of Uganda.
We believe that both our young people at the center and the local village people will benefit in many ways by seeing and participating in new forms of expression and culture.
The Children's Center will also have microscopes, telescopes and the digital technology to help children explore and understand God's universe.
In addition, vocational skills training will be an integral part of the the work of the Center. The students will be taught by the missionary teacher/parents under a homeschooling model based in self-paced, individualized instruction, hands on learning, tutoring, peer learning and small group activities. They will learn to build and maintain homes, vehicles and other trade skills as part of their contribution to the upkeep of the center. Additional opportunities will be afforded them as they express interest and commitment.
It goes without saying that everything we do must be bathed in prayer and based in God's Rhema Word. Bible training will be given top priority in all our instructional programs.
Those who feel God has called them to higher education will receive the help they need for a university track education as well. We want to encourage every one of them to become strong men and women of God who face their future with an open mind and a "can do" attitude ... people sent out into the world with the words "for with God nothing shall be impossible" engraved on their hearts.
