Golokwara is a village of 2000 hidden in the bush of the Amuria District in North Eastern Uganda. It is home to the Teso people, once prosperous cattle ranchers. Some of the best military leaders, authors, medical doctors and preachers have come from the Teso tribe. It is said that at one time there were great men of God among the Tesos who raised the dead and walked on water.
That all changed with war, insurrection and the HIV crises. To make matters worse the Karamajong from the North began to secure large caches of weapons and use them to kill and rustle cattle from Teso. The Teso people increasingly resorted to witchcraft to fight back. This only opened the door to increased demonic activity and further oppression. You'll find many families who had their children kidnapped or killed during the insurrections never to be heard from again. Several mass graves and the severe economic depression attest to the destruction in Teso land. People here have all but lost hope.
We believe, however, that God has heard their cry and is already doing miracles. Many are turning away from witchcraft and embracing Christ. They have begun to pray that He would heal their land. We're seeing a renewed desire to seek Him and to trust Him for change.Â
In 2015 we received a prophetic word about the Golokwara Children's Center and now, 10 years later, it is being fulfilled. It is an important part of what God is doing to bring change and rescue a generation. We're excited to see Him work and would love to have you join us through your prayers and donations, and who knows ... maybe you'll be one of the ones to go as well ... and partner with us as we raise movers and shakers for a new day in Africa, and around the world!!
